Another kind of petal

I went to see an exhibition: The New Italian Design.

I cannot show you what I saw in the exhibition. Taking photos is usually not allowed in such occasions.

One of the messages I got is "Design is mass appeal." in recent years.

Clear shapes, or lines and few colors all make a great Italian style design.

Most of the items are furniture or household items. Some of the items are really creatively practical. There is a strange bicycle with one big wheel and one very small wheel in the exhibition. No touch. Of course. I do hope to be able to ride on such a vehicle. How would this kind of bicycle work? Is it easy to ride? Is it efficient?

Today, it's the wire flower with jagged petals. In the nature, jagged flowers are popular. The nature is just amazing.

One of my favorite designs of this year: Thousand flowers

The thousand flowers is one of my favorite designs of this year. It can have many possibilities, and it can be lovely, elegant, or gorgeous. I will extend this thousand flowers design in different projects. Thousand means "many", not the exact number.

Actually, I do not expect to post this so early, but I'm busy in reading novels. So, it is an easy post for me to just pick a previous work to show.

Wrapping the sunflower with seed beads

Give the wire sunflower another face by wrapping it with beads.
After the wire frame is done, using thin wires to wrap it not only can strengthen and secure the frame but also give a new face to the frame. Change the beads will change the feeling.

Know basics of thin wire wrapping and apply it onto all the wire frames you like.

The making is not difficult but it takes some time. The total making time is about 30 minute.

Materials of the copper  flower with seed beads:
1. 22 gauge copper * about 50 cm
2. some seed beads

Both sides of the copper flower are good to show.

Its size: 2.3 cm * 2 cm

I wrapped it freely after the basic flower frame was made. I like freestyle making, because there is no need to worry about shaping, and any longer or shorter is another style. It is a strong type of crafts.

Wire flower with pearls

Adding some pearls to the wire flower means to create another style. Often, only a little bit difference can make a prototype design  into a much different style. The feel of the 4-petal flower changes by wrapping it with thinner wire and pearls. 

Materials for this 3.5 cm * 3.5 cm flower:

1. 18 gauge 30 cm
2. 28 gauge 30 cm
3. 4 pearls 

It's easy to make and takes not much materials. First, you make the flower shape . . And then wrap the pearls one by one.

Wire cosmos flower

Cosmos flowers are popular flowers when the land needs a rest for a season. A stretch of cosmos flowers in the countryside is one of my biking views.

Red and pink Wire flowers

This is another type of  flowers.
Just like nature, we can create various flowers.

Materials: 18 gauge red and pink color

The red flower has 9 petals and the pink flower has 10.
The number of petals makes differences.

Wire Jewelry: petals flower ring

This is another petals flower design.
The flower petals are smaller.
At first, I drew a six-petal flower ring as draft. However, the outcome is usually different from the image in mind.
If using only one or two petals, it's also like "leaf", especially in green-colored wire.
"Leaf" is also a common element in crafts.

Wire pendant : 4 petal flower

The 4 petal wire flower pendant is using 18 gauge wire.
The feature of this flower is the irregular petal and is different from round and regular petal flowers.
I have other posts on wire flowers: flower ring, sunflower, flower and pearl.

Once again, same method can be applied to other forms of wirework. Expanding 4 petals to 5 or more petals is quite the same things.

This pearl here used is natural pearl and like egg-shape, not round.
The petals are of different sizes.
Actually by same method, you can make petals of sames sized, such as to make a wire camellia. All you need is to make more flower petals.

I made this wire flower yesterday.
At first, what I wanted was a Camellia.
The final piece of work doesn't look like a Camellia.
The wire flower is similar to clovers overlayed. It gives me an idea of adding more layers wight make a carnation wire flower.
It doesn't matter. I will try to make a Camellia wire flower some day.

When taking photos, it's hard to actually express the colors and shine of metals.

The upper parts are photos without white papers around.
The lower parts of the photos  were taken in same conditions but with white papers around. The lower parts of the photos are much whiter and pinker. It's closer to actual colors and shine.

Simple wire ring - flower

This wire ring is a very simple type.
The ring in flower shape is only made of wire.

The ring size can be easily adjusted for fingers.
